Sevenoaks Literary Festival – one of the many events that take place in Sevenoaks
With its easy commute to London Bridge, Waterloo East and Charing Cross, the prospect of great schools, sports facilities, food, fashion and culture, the thriving market town of Sevenoaks has it all!! This is why this month we are throwing the Spotlight on Sevenoaks.
Sevenoaks is easily commutable to the Capital and to Europe. It offers a mix of modern, traditional and historic properties to rent or buy and caters equally well for professionals, families and pensioners.
The arts and culture scene is well established with the Stag theatre and arts centre, the Sevenoaks bookshop, affiliated to the Sevenoaks literary festival held in September/October, the library and the annual Sevenoaks Summer festival which, this year, will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. The historic Knole House almost in the centre of town is home to a 1,000 acre park and ranked in the top 5 of England’s historic houses, truly beautiful and definitely worth a visit.
Sports are also in focus with bowls, badminton, rugby, swimming, cricket and marshal arts all complimented by the newly improved Sevenoaks Leisure Centre. Sevenoaks has many sporting successes and Sevenoaks Rugby Club is a prime example as they won the 2018/19 London 1 South Division Championship, were promoted to the London and South East Premiere League and are now one of the top 100 clubs in the country.
Preserving the past for the future the Bat and Ball station successfully secured Heritage lottery funding in 2018 which enabled the restoration of the crumbling, boarded up station. The station now offers a café, open 6 days a week, a community room for hire and the vision of a Victorian Garden area which is being designed to capture the past.
Independent shops are abundant – with Horncastles, (an independent uniform shop), County Clothes, MacMan, The Chinaman, and the Sevenoaks Bookshop to name but a few.
There are many excellent schools in the area with the renowned Sevenoaks School, offering mixed independent education which offers the (International Baccalaureate) IB. Walthamstow Hall (Wally Hall as it is affectionally referred to by its pupils and teachers) is an independent senior girls school with a strong academic and sporting reputation.
It goes without saying that the state school sector also shines at both primary and secondary levels. With strong academic achievements across the board.
We chose to turn the Spotlight on Sevenoaks as it has so much to offer in terms of location, countryside, schools and an easy, fast commute to London and beyond. Please feel free to contact us, the home and school finding specialists, at Pavilion Relocation Ltd on 01892 277001
