Zurich, Switzerland to Sevenoaks, Kent, UK
Our home finding search for James was focused on searching for a detached home for his wife and two young children close to town and within walking distance to Sevenoaks station. He was keen to point out that the children had a tendency to be noisy so he preferred not to be living on anyone’s doorstep! They’d decided on Sevenoaks as a number of his acquaintances lived here and either drove or took the train to work in Canary Wharf.
We agreed a date to take him out within a week of speaking with him as time was pressing – their house in Switzerland had been packed up, his wife and children had gone back to see friends and family in Singapore and he was due to take up his new position within the month. The search began; we sourced a good range of properties for James that suited his budget, he wanted to keep it low as they intend buying somewhere in the next year or so. Halfway through our viewings we saw a house that was, to James, the perfect family home – a fully equipped kitchen, 3 reception rooms and a pretty enclosed garden and within a stones throw of the station. An offer was placed and accepted and so he decided to stop the search and go for lunch to celebrate. However sadly this was not to be the case as the landlord was having legal problems with his divorce and was unable to commit to the date we’d requested.
So it was back to square one for us in our home finding seacrh and this time we had less than a week and rather less stock available than in the first search.
This was a major challenge but one which we rose to. The second schedule was prepared and approved by James. We agreed to meet at the same time and place as before and, as luck would have it, he liked the very first house we viewed. It was pretty perfect – newly refurbished, modern with fully opening patio doors to the garden and the added bonus of a very short walk to the station and town. We advised James to think about it and carried on viewing the other properties and though there were some that he quite liked he had set his heart on the first one. We called the agent, put in our offer, which was accepted with just a short snagging list to be attended to. They moved in the following Friday. This was definitely one of our fastest relocations as, from initial chat to moving in, it was only 2 weeks! Bring it on.
